Residents were pleased with how Carrizo handled the situation.[2] Contamination from the spill was mostly contained, though some got into shallow groundwater.[3] Because of the size of the spill and the groundwater contamination, in addition to a later 9,000-gallon spill in April 2013, Carrizo was fined $192,044 by the DEP in June 2014.[4]
