|  The solids control process involves the use of  rig shakers and centrifuges in order to separate solids and liquids in the drill cuttings with mud.  The drill cuttings are deposited into into open top containers and eventually mixed with sawdust for additional drying in preparation for landfill disposal.  The fluid in the cuttings drops into a through under the shakers and is pumped to centrifuges to pull out more solids.  During water based mud drilling, calcium nitrate and a polymer is injected to let the solids come together; basically used for coagulation and flocculation purposes.  The chemicals are added to a poly tank and  eventually pumped through a centrifuge as the centrifuge is separating solids and liquids in the drill cuttings.  A request for approval of Alternative Waste Management Practice (OG-71) needs to be submitted to the Department for this process.
