+ | | Reviewed abandoned well site with farmer Neil Van Brandt. He is not the landowner, but is acting on behalf of the elderly landowner. There are 3 casings in the ground, all within approximately 20 feet of each other. Neil thought 1 well was a gas well, another a water well and the other unknown. One well with a 6 and 4 inch casing with tubing had water flow from the top of the casing. A QuanTab check of the water registered 351ppm. Neil thought an 8 inch casing filled with dirt and designated OW-2 was the gas well. The site will be submitted to the I&O program. Refer to I&O package for photos of site. | ||

− | | An inspection of this orphan well revealed rusted 6.56 | + | | An inspection of this orphan well revealed rusted 6.56 outside diameter casing set on a hangar and situated 6 above ground level with severely corroded 4.38 outside diameter casing and 2.81 tubing. The 4.38 casing did not contain a visible collar above fluid only threads with a split/cut on one side. Fluid inside this casing was at the surface and drained into the annulus between the 6.56 casing. A soft material was observed at the surface between the above annulus. The well was situated on a property designated as corn field with no overhead obstructions and miinimal oifield debris at well location. A bare area extended from the well and measured 26' x 10'. High Range Quantabs placed in the fluid exceeded the maximum of 10 units. Note: 8.8 units is equal to 6,361 ppm (mg/L) Cl-. Additional casings were also found near this well. The first casing was 7 above ground level, 10' from the well at N. 41.70826, W. -83.24016, bent on one side and measured 6 outside diameter casing with dirt on the inside 10 from top of casing. The wellbore was probed to 2' with no obstruction. The second casing contained a collar just above ground level, measured 8.63 outside diameter with vegetation growing on the inside and located 15' away from the well at N. 41.70821, W. -84.24010. |
