| Bruce P. called to say they have finished using the temporary storage pit.  Will work at getting last bit of oil out of it, then pressure wash and put the drain back in so that when it rains, water will go out drain and not collect.  Said that it was there before as a dike around a large tank that had been removed and plan to leave the dike and plastic cover, as will have to use again someday.  I did not feel this would be a problem.  They should be done completely next week and will inspect when they call.

| Inspection required by UIC regarding temporary storage of brine in surface pit.  Bruce Philps showed me what they were doing and explained why.  They are wanting to clean their large, singular brine tank and may take weeks or months - need to have somewhere to put water while cleaning tank, so are using an old "location" where oil stock tank once sat  - oil tank gone  but  dike still in place.  Tank was removed years ago but are rebuilding, improving on the dike and will line area with heavy liner - have a drain beneath the liner to monitor any possible leaks, edges of plastic will be buried to prevent movement and slippage, should be done by end of next week and ready to start using.  Should hold between 2800 and 4000 bbl of fluid.  On-site inspection required by UIC, OOG will call when ready to use as only have 120 days for use.  Seem to be doing all requirements and some work not required.  They are also getting ready to bore under the river to lay a new 10" steel line for transporting oil/water and went out on the island to see the path, workers clearing brush this day so surveyors can get good sightings - project should start in Sept., Bruce said.
