| This inspection was conducted in regards to a phone call placed by the landowner at 8:43 AM concerning a leaking tank. An inspection was conducted at approximately 9:30 AM. The well was equipped with a pumping unit and motor. The valves were open on the wellhead. A new GPS reading was taken at the wellhead. The well produces into a tank battery that consists of (2) 100 barrel tanks inside an earthen dike. Identification was posted at the tank battery. The inspection revealed that a 100 barrel tank was in fact leaking brine from the bottom of the tank. The brine was escaping the dike through an 1.5" plastic PVC drain pipe at a rate of approximately one drop per second. The brine had not affected vegetation as it appears the leak started recently. High range Quantab test strips were placed near the bottom of the leaking tank and the end of the drain pipe which resulted in maximum levels for chlorides. A phone call was placed to well owner Mr. Fred Eichorn and was notified of the inspection. Mr. Eichorn stated that he would have the tank emptied immediately. Mr. Eichorn also stated that he is planning on applying for a plug permit within the next month to have the well plugged.
