Jeff also gathered data on the casing size and current state of the well. |

1461082567 | 2016-04-19 | Orphan | No Violations | This inspection was conducted in response to a request to confirm the status or existence of this well. On the day of my inspection I found that the well was equipped with 8.625 conductor casing and 7 surface casing. The surface casing was open. There was a swage loosely set on top, but not screwed on. When I removed the swage I found that the casing was filled with an oily sludge to within 3 feet of the surface. There was active bubbling from the sludge. I did not get a strong gas odor, but it was windy. There was no oil or water visibly leaking from the well and there was no impacted soil or vegetation around the well. The well was 30 feet from a run-off stream that cuts through the property. There was a water well on the property that was 190 feet from the oil and gas well. I met with the landowner Mark Cutshall. He claimed that he has lived in the home since 2006 and he has never had any problems with the well leaking. He also claimed that his water well was showing no signs of being affected by the abandoned well. The records indicate that this well was referred to the orphan well program in 2003 by inspector Rocky King. The records also indicate that the well was capped after drilling and never produced. |
