1488299536 | 2019-03-12 | Production Wells | No Violations | My inspection revealed that the well was equipped with a pumping unit and motor. The well showed signs of recent production. At the well location I observed (1) 100 barrel tank and a separator inside an earthen dike. I observed (1) 100 barrel loading tank and a steel brine tank that does not appear to be in use at the bottom of the hill. During my inspection I observed discolored stressed vegetation at the tank battery near the well due to brine being drained on the ground from the 100 barrel tank. It appears that brine is being drained on the ground from a plastic yellow line as water is transferred to the 100 barrel tank at the bottom of the hill. The area of vegetation affected was approximately 60 feet in length by 10 feet at its widest point closest to the tank battery. An inspection of the tank at the bottom of the hill revealed that the bottom of the tank is in poor condition. I did not notice any leaks and tested water near the tank for chlorides with a Quantab titrator. The test resulted in less than 32 ppm chlorides. I did observe oil absorbent material has been applied in some areas at the bottom of the tank. Several photos were taken of the tanks during the inspection. Identification was posted at both tank batteries. I contacted John Herron with Jefferson Oil & Gas Company at 2:58 PM. Mr. Herron said that the shipping tank is scheduled to be removed and a new tank delivered. I advised Mr. Herron of the findings at the tank battery at the well location. Mr. Herron said he would make sure that does not continue. Time of inspection: 11:30 AM. Weather: 37 degrees F, Sunny |
