Company will need to clean up all oily material and dispose of in a proper manner. Need full and legible ID at the well head and tank battery, correct Owners name and ER number. |

Arriving on site at 12:20 pm, City of Logan Fire Dept and AEP were on site. Company had been transferring brine from a 100 bbl tank with a small gasoline water pump, into 2 plastic tanks in the bed of a dump truck. As the pump started taking on oil a company guy ran to turn off pump and the hose parted at the pump spraying oil onto the engine of the water pump. At that point the pump caught on fire and spread to the dump truck, company guy moved truck from tank battery pad area onto a concrete creek crossing. As truck burned, it allowed the contains from the plastic tanks to enter a intermittent stream which feeds into the Honey Fork stream. Approx. 250 gallons of brine and 20 gallons of crude oil ran approx. 600 yards down stream. While truck was burning an overhead electric line was burn into supplying a house. I spoke with owner of company ( Joe Bauer ) and explained to him it was illegal to transport brine in this method, Company is not a registered Brine Hauler. Company installed booms and pads with OEPA and have started clean up. Will issued company a Compliance Notice and do another inspection of the spill Thursday morning. |
