1643477891 | 2015-02-05 | Plug / Plug Back | No Violations | On the date of inspection I am on site to witness the re-plugging and abandonment of the well for coal mining purposes. The well was previously plugged and abandoned through the Orphan Well Program. I was informed by Coastal Drilling representative Mark Wilson that the Coastal Drilling 220 rig had set a 16 inch diameter conductor weighing 65lbs/ft to 20 feet in depth. I was not notified and did not witness the setting of the conductor. The rig then drilled to a total depth of 636 feet below the Kelly Bushing (KB) at a height of 10 feet above ground surface. The following bit sizes were used to drill out the previously plugged well: 9.875 inch diameter from surface to 148 feet, 7.875 inch diameter hole from 148 to 610 feet and 6.25 inch diameter from 610 to 636 feet (final 26 feet inside of 7 inch casing). Coastal also pulled from 0 to 610 feet of 7 inch casing out and from 0 to 150 of 8.625 inch casing out. Coastal then completed a Gamma Well Log, Cement Bond Log, Gyro Deviation Log, and a Caliper Gamma Log. The Pittsburgh coal seam was logged from 402 feet to 407 feet in depth. Based on the information obtained from the logs, the following sections were calculated for cementing purposes: 636 feet to 610 feet for 7 inch casing, 610 to 490 feet for 9 inch open hole, 490 to 190 feet for 8.5 inch open hole, 190 to 150 feet for 8.625 inch casing, 150 feet to 30 feet for 12 inch open hole, and 30 feet to surface for 16 inch conductor. Two plugs were spotted through 3.5 inch, 13.3lbs/ft drill pipe that would cement the hole to surface. Omega Cementing pumped 110sk of Thixotropic cement, 14.7ppg, 1.27 yield, 2% Gel, 2% CaCl2, 2% gypsum and one gallon yellow dye for the first plug. Omega displaced cement with 2.3bbl of water. The cement was allowed to cure for approximately one hour then was tagged at 290 feet with drill pipe. Ten joints of drill pipe were pulled from the hole during after the first plug and averaged 31 feet per joint. Omega then pumped 130sk of Class A cem |
