1283859292 2010-09-02 Orphan No Violations Received an E-mail request from Mike Williams Geologist on 8-30-10 to do an I &O inspection for landowner Edsel Atkins. Well is located in a hayfield. Edsel is tired of farming around the well and wants it to go away. No identification. 2 tubing with 2 ball valve (shut). 2 tee with top 2nipple and 2 ball valve (shut). From side of tee 2 nipple with 2 by 1 reducing coupling, 1 nipple, 1 ball valve (shut) 1 nipple, 1 by 3/4 reducing coupling, 3/4 nipple, 3/4 90 with a 3/4 by 1/4 bushing and a gauge. No production equipment or production lines. Well is not connected for house gas. No overhead obstructions on wellsite. Overhead power lines along Red Hollow Road. Well is 77 from Red Hollow Road. Water well GPS N38.96923 / W082.86697. House GPS N38.96914 / W082.86729. House is located across the road from the well. Pike County Recorders Office lease search revealed that the previous land owner James and Nora Robinson were assigned the lease and the well on 5-17-1984. V30/ Pg179. I called Edsel Atkins and we talked about the well and who owns it. I asked Edsel if he knew what happened to the Robinsons. Edsel told me that Nora is deceased and James is in his 90s and is currently living on Edsels farm in a small house. Edsel said that he does not want Mr. Robinson to have to plug the well. I told Edsel that James Robinson is the registered well owner. I told Edsel that the well needs to be in production. Edsel stated that it has no gas in the well. I asked if they have had it swabbed. He said no. I explained that water will hold the gas in formation and that swabbing should be attempted before plugging the well if he wants house gas. I told Edsel that if he wants the well plugged I would provide a list of contractors that he could hire and that he will need a permit to plug the well. Edsel stated that he is not interested in paying to plug the well.
1379352890 2013-09-16 Production Wells No Violations Mr. Ralph Atkins (740-820-8104) contacted me about a well on his property previously owned by James Robinson. Mr. Robinson is now deceased and he apparently made no well assignment to his son or other potential heirs. This is apparently an Idle & Orphan Well case. I will inspect the well and take photos. Ill check Columbus for well records on this well. I will do a courthouse search in Waverly for title and assignments) records.
1379423256 2013-09-16 Production Wells No Violations Checked on the status of this well after request by landowner, re: inspection report 1379352890. This is a gas wellhead. At ground surface, a swedge fitting rises to a 2-3/8 inch pipe. A ball valve is on top, then a 2-3/8 inch pipe above the valve. Pipe ends in a t-fitting. At the horizontal fitting a 2-3/8 inch pipe extends to another 2-3/8 to 1-3/8 inch swedge fitting. Then there is another ball valve (shut in) with a gas gauge on the other side. On the top, vertical fitting of the t-fitting, there is another 2-3/8 inch pipe rising to another ball valve. The ball valve is shut in and there is no cap. I used the Ph6D gas meter to measure any gas emissions from the surface plumbing. Meter measured 0.10 meter units of CH4 (methane gas), 10 % of the LEL, and 10 meter units of CO (carbon monoxide) near the bottom of the surface plumbing on this well This well is not connected to any pipes leading to a domestic user. I recommend this well be placed in the Idle and Orphan well program.
