The valve for the line was partially open at the wellhead. We were met at the location by the owners grandson (Mr. Justin Beck) and asked him to attempt to carefully close the valve after soaking it with penetrating oil also discussed plugging procedures. 1509561458 | 2017-11-01 | Production Wells | Violations Noted | Inspected the Beck #3 (#3825) as an odor complaint from a nearby resident. Strong hydrogen sulfide odor noted on township road #91. Previous inspections and violation written 3/30/2015 documented the well H2S leak and no repair has been made by the owner of record, the well leak needs repaired as soon as possible. The well is not being utilized domestically and shall be plugged. Mr. Richard Beck shall submit a written plugging schedule to Eric Daugstrup at Division of Oil & Gas Resource Management 116 E. 1510586551 | 2017-11-08 | Production Wells | No Violations | RBDMS list this well as DM or Domestic Well. This well has a pump jack with an electric motor and a horizontal separator. There are no storage tanks. This well has not been pumped since, 1-inch diameter trees and brush have grown in and around the pumpjack. This well was permitted and drilled with a cable tool rig to the Trempealeau Formation. The well was perforated in the Lockport and no plug back records are available. The well survey card shows 114 feet of 10-inch, 350 feet of 8-inch, and 2100 feet of 7-inch diameter casing(s). The well completion report confirms the same depths. The Division has a Surface Casing report and cement job witnessed by Division Inspector Sam Faust showing 518 feet of 8.625-inch diameter surface casing. There are two 2-inch annular valves coming from the outside of the 7-inch diameter casing that are in the open position. From one valve there is a regulator and a 1-inch plastic line that loops around and crosses through a 2-inch diameter metal tubing under the lease road. The well is audibly and physically leaking H2S Gas from a splice in the 1-inch plastic line approximately 15 feet south east of the well head. This leak is approximately 1 foot from where the 1-inch line enters the 2-inch diameter tubing. I obtained a H2S reading of > 266 ppm with my tango gas meter ( at the leak). The wind speed was approximately 8 miles per hour and blowing north to south. The nearest inhabited residence is 270 feet to the north east of the well belonging to Joshua Beck. With a normal wind flow from the south west H2S odors would go in the direction of the Joshua Beck Residence. The 1-inch and 2-inch diameter line enters below ground on the east side of the lease road and is unknown where it goes. The valves , fittings and tubing on the well head are corroded badly and there is concerns of safety that they may fail completely releasing uncontrolled volumes of H2S gas. This well is in the division Complaint data base number 5734. Contractor Bill Mi |
