1365446661 2013-01-10 I received a complaint from Jack Ward, landowner on what was North American Coal ground, to report an orphan well. I found this well with 8 5/8" casing, standing 18" above ground level with the top of casing raggedly cut off. The well is located about 6' off the edge of Twp. Rd. 542. Looking down in the hole, there is a steel "eye" about 1' down, as used to thread cable thru on a cable tool rig for the top of the tool. I believe there are still tools in the hole. The hole is dry inside, packed with leaves and debris. Nearby is an old structure that has been burned down - landowner says it was an old barn but 1" and 2" steel pipe running into it makes it appear to be an old pumphouse. The OGS wellcard indicates that this well was plugged in 2000 by Blauser Well Service but from talking to them (Blauser), I find the well they plugged was located out near the highway at the end of this road. Our records are incorrect. Pictures taken, SEM is 154. Will have to determine if well has been plugged and just needs cut off or has never been plugged. Met with Jack and family on 4/8/2013 to discuss the project - he did not know any more about this well.
