-2046177832	2010-03-30		Conducted records search at Sandusky county courthouse. Records indicated last lease was from CH Metzler to Mearl Shaul, 1325 Clinton Street, Fremont, Ohio in 1971. On line search for Mearl Shaul found no results for Fremont, surrounding area or State of Ohio. ODNR RBDMS database indicates another well in the same field was plugged by CH Metzler in 1954. Well depth was 1370 feet.

1269871992	2010-03-24		Well added to database. No records were located for well. Well was located due to release of oil into field tile and drainage ditch. Orphan well releasing oil. An area about 40 foot by 40 foot covered with fresh crude oil. Well is open hole with 8 inch conductor casing, 6.25 inch surface casing, no tubing and no rods. Based on nearby records well should be about 1380 feet deep. The base of the limestone should be about 385 feet below grade. Ohio EPA Release # 1003-72-0688; US EPA Release # NRC 934-899. Coordinates for well head are NAD 27:N41.37597 W83.17773.
1270049427	2010-03-29		Met with landowner Mr. Root to obtain Right of Entry for well that discharged oil into ditch. Picked up map of field tile locations from Soil Conservation office. Mr Root thought tile on west side of well was nearest to well. Mr. Root described the location of beginning of tile near US 20. GPS of that location and corresponding reading due north at well indicated tile was likely on the west edge of the surface oil spill area. This also is consistent with description of tile near edge of grass strip where well is located. Oil has been removed from surface around well to depth of 6-9 inches and stored in containers. No excavation was done to verify oil in tile.
