2068199 2012-04-30 No Violations Noted A partial inspection was conducted at the Reed Run 2145 pad (105-21500) on April 30, 2012 in response to a concern forward to the Department by the landowner (DCNR) that an area where an unusual amount of deer activity was observed. It was determined by PGE that this area was where an encapsulated pit containing drill cuttings for the above referenced well, pea gravel and frac sand was buried. Prior to this inspection the decision was made by PGE to remove the pit. The area in question, as shown in the attached photos, had standing water in the location and there were many deer tracts present. Jeff Munksgard, from PGE, was onsite and the plan to remove the pit was discussed. The plan is to partially excavate the area in order to sample the material that would be disposed of, and once the laboratory results were received, the remaining material would be disposed at an appropriate landfill. No new violations were cited during this inpsection. A follow-up inspection will be conducted.
2068202 2012-05-14 No Violations Noted A partial inspection was conducted at the Reed Run 2145 pad (105-21500) on May 14, 2012. A containment area was being constructed to allow trucks to park while the excavated drill cuttings will be loaded during the excavation. The freshwater impoundment has been drained and the impoundment removed and area backfilled. The excavation of the drill pit is on-hold at this time until road bonding issues have been resolved. No new violations were cited during this inspection.
2070506 2012-05-23 No Violations Noted A partial inspection was conducted at the Reed Run 2145 pad (105-21500) on May 23, 2012. A containment area was constructed to allow trucks to park while the excavated drill cuttings will be loaded during the excavation. The excavation of the drill pit began Monday 5/21/12 and at the time of this inspection was approximately 80% complete. Liquids present in the excavated area as a result of heavy rains the day before this inspection were being absorbed with wood pellet material. The excavated material was being loaded into lined dump trucks that were parked on containment. Approximately 40 trucks have been loaded so far. Jeff Munksgard from PGE was on-site and indicated a filed meter would be used to measure the conductivity of the soil in order to determine the extent of excavation. It was estimated that the excavation would be completed by the end of the day. PGE stated they expect to collect confirmatory samples on Friday 5/25/12. No new violations were cited during this inspection. - MRN
2071406 2012-05-29 No Violations Noted A partial inspection was conducted at the Reed Run 2145 pad (105-21500) on May 29, 2012. The drill cuttings and liner have been removed. PGE had confirmatory soil samples collected by DMS Environmental Services on Friday 25, 2012. During todayï¾’s inspection, a soil sample was collected near the west corner of the excavated area and submitted for SAC 960 analysis. No unusually staining of the soil was observed. No new violations were cited during this inspection. - MRN
2077762 2012-06-21 No Violations Noted A follow-up inspection was conducted at the Reed Run 2145 pad (105-21500) on June 21, 2012. The pit was nearly full of water during this inspection. The water was screened and no elevated conductivity was noted. An excavator was on site and disabled. There was staining observed on the soil directly below the bucket. This material and any contaminated soil should be collected and disposed of properly. No new violations were cited during this inspection.
2083328 2012-07-16 No Violations Noted A follow-up inspection was conducted at the Reed Run 2145 pad (105-21500) on July 16, 2012. The excavation of the drill cuttings pit has been completed. Soil samples were collected on behalf of PGE and the results submitted to the Department. The area has been returned to grade and is awaiting further stabilization. A minimum uniform 70% perennial vegetative cover, with a density capable of resisting accelerated erosion and sedimentation should be established. A follow-up inspection will be conducted at a later date to verify this has occurred. A final report is being prepared and will be submitted to the Department. No new violations were cited during this inspection. - MRN
