1134491598 | 2015-04-15 | This well is undergoing plugging and abandonment. Leaking had been discovered from a previous plug. The earlier plug is now being drilled out and another plug will be attempted. The fluid control berms are secure and the access road to the well has been secured with timber-style rig matting. Work is progressing and work is being supervised by Inspector Rick Kepler.

-1279854026 | 2014-07-31 | Cleveland Metro parks crews return to site to erect a temporary vent stack using 12-inch PVC with field-drilled 0.5 inch vent holes and cap. Crews excavated 2 to 3 feet below grade in an attempt to locate any other casing not previously seen. No other casing besides the 5-inch which was exposed previously. Crews place the vent in the hole, concentric to the exposed 5-inch and secure and bury. Following installation, the top of vent is approximately 6 feet above grade. Gas is observed to be venting form the vent holes. LEL levels were observed to drop to undetectable levels within 2 to 3 feet from the vent. Once completed, crews leave. No other activities performed at this time.

1406809864 | 2014-07-31 | I met with Norburt Lowder (ODNR) and Rick Ditch (Cleveland Metro parks Manager) to assess the current condition of the well and evaluate for placement of a temporary vent stack. Crews from the metro park maintenance staff have excavated a small area around the well. They will return this afternoon to complete a shallow excavation zone around the well to 4 feet below grade and place a nominal 6' vent stack at the well.
-1415043858 | 2015-01-14 | I met with Norbert Lowder and Gene Chini from ODNR-Orphan Well Program, along with John Kilgore and Rick Ditch from the Cleveland Metroparks to discuss planning associated with proposed plugging and abandonment of the well through the orphan well program. Issues discussed included access to the well location and logistical planning to limit site impact from equipment as well as schedule. Plugging and abandonment is tentatively proposed for February 2015. Cuurently, the well is passively vented with a field-constructed 6' PVC riser.
1423241916 | 2014-07-31 |
This follow up inspection was conducted on 07-22-14 with Inspector Steve Tompkins to oversee the venting of this old well by the park service. The following work was completed: * Excavated and exposed the well casing and obtained updated photos. * Fabricated a larger temporary PVC vent over the well casing that extended approximately 6' to 8' above ground level to vent the natural gas. |
||||
1424206663 | 2015-02-13 | I inspected this well at the request of the Orphan Well Program, specifically to collect additional photographic documentation to augment the existing observations and data. At the time of this inspection, the well is passively venting via a temporary PVC vent stack at the well location. The vent stack was put in place by Cleveland Metroparks maintenance crews and remains in-place and is stable.
1426275352 | 2015-03-12 | I insepcted the location of the well as part of on-going activities to prepare for plugging and abandonment. Areas around the well as well as ingress/egress pathways are being cleared by Cleveland Metro Parks maintenance crews. Currently, the activity consists of removal of small brush and several trees near the well. Most of this has been completed except for a couple of treee near the well. At the time of this inspection, the ground surface is saturated with snow melt and is very soft. I talked to Rick Ditch with the Metro Parks, and he indicated that the clearing work is projected to be completed within the next couple of days.
1426862606 | 2015-03-20 | Site preparation continues. Additional matting delivered and installed. Area surrounding well head excavated, aluminum barrier installed to accommodate welder. Welder on site and has welded 5 1/2 into 6. Tentative plan is to finish welding Monday as well as spotting rig.
1427133650 | 2015-03-23 | Service rig brought onto location and spotted. Tubing for drilling unloaded; 300 Bbl. 1/2 tank spotted along with open top tank. A & K welding fabricated and welded flow diverter. Oil absorbent booms placed in Coe Creek at request of U.S. EPA representative Jim Augustyn.
1427211928 | 2015-03-24 | Drill collars along with mud pump and power swivel brought to location and rigged up. Fluid diverter assembled and connected. Drilling/clean out commenced at 1:50 PM. On first day of drilling, after 2 3/4 hours of drilling drilled +/- 26 feet of hole with mostly wood cuttings returns.
1427314800 | 2015-03-25 | Drilled in 1st joint of tubing. (31.20 feet.)
Finish connection, resume clean out. Returns are still wood. Second joint of 2 3/8 EUE tubing landed. (64.60 feet, total) Returns remain predominately wood. Prior to making next connection, well unloaded gas and oil, (+/- 2 Bbls.) Contacted Mgr. Chini and advised of situation and to let him know that following the last joint for the day being landed, we will be shutting the well in overnight. Resumed clean out. Returns appear to be light oil, with minimal wood. Landed joint #3, aggregate total of +/- 93.70 feet cleaned out. Well is making gas and continuing to bring light oil. (Possible that oil has mixed in with water, therefore the clean out of the tank in the morning.) 4 |

1427465265 | 2015-03-27 | Rig is running additional 14 joints of 2 3/8 EUE tubing to a depth of 903.75 feet, with no evident blockages. Timco hooked up pump and is circulating hole. Resumed running tubing, hit a blockage at +/-1242.05 feet. Timco hooking up pump and swivel. Drilling continued with mixed returns of small amounts of wood, rock, and some miniscule metal shavings. Eventually, returns were virtually nil, and only 8 feet of hole was made. Total footage is now +/- 1250 feet.
1427816763 | 2015-03-31 | Crew and Timco Well services arrive location. Well had no pressure this morning. Begin running 10 2 3/8 drill collars, with mill on bottom, and 2 3/8 EUE tubing. After repairing the controls for the power swivel, we are able to commence drilling/cleanout. Following 2 hours of drilling with very little progress, decision was made to curtail drilling, circulate hole and pull tubing and collars out. Ran log on hole and discovered there is only 98 feet of pipe in hole. Ran caliper to confirm, and showed same results. Log TD of hole is 1253 feet.
1427889925 | 2015-04-01 | Ran 2 3/8 EUE tubing to 1253 feet, pulled up to 1250 feet. Set 500 foot bottom plug. See plug report for details. Pulled tubing out of hole. Hooked on to 6

-1447815901 | 2015-04-08 | Inspector and rig crew on location. Well had +/- 2 PSI. Upon removing swage from well head we discovered that apparently gas had created a channel up through the grout. The area surrounding the channel appeared to have set up. Contacted Mgr. Chin and forwarded pictures and videos of the well. Arrangements are being made to drill out the grout to a depth of 250 feet. Following a meeting with inspectors, Orphan Mgr. Chini and Steve Hagen, it was decided that we will drill out to 250 feet, then squeeze, through tubing, to attempt to seal off gas leaking.
-1552820902 | 2014-07-22 | This follow up inspection was conducted on 07-22-14 with Orphan Well Program Manager Gene Chini to evaluate and update information in the case file.
Updates are as follows: * GPS: 41.44791, -81.83653. * Access will be off of Valley Parkway. * Trees within work area will need to be removed. |

-2086151859 | 2015-04-06 | Well is still gassing. Timco Well Services arrives on site with pump and swivel for clean out of well. Drilled to +/- 125 feet and have been in solid cement for approximately 40 feet. Contacted Mgr. Chini, informed him of our findings. Will circulate hole bottoms up several times, trip out of hole and prepare to bale in morning. Plan is to run 9 sack grout to surface.
2141615586 | 2015-03-19 | On site to witness and document preparations for plugging and abandoning this well. Majority of matting and steel plates delivered and installed. Location lined and matted. Well head consisting of what appears to be 6.25 inside of 8 exposed. Operations to continue in morning.
-514379966 | 2015-05-08 | Contractor brought area back to original grade. All equipment has been removed. Metro Parks completed the seeding and mulching and will plant trees that were provided by DOGRM. Metro Parks accepts location as is.
-572775044 | 2015-04-21 | Well is still gassing ever so little. The decision to cut well head off, place temporary monument on top and vault and vent well head was approved by Mgr. Chini. The rig crew began rigging down service rig, BullDawg Trucking on site to remove all tanks, cut off wellhead, remove tubing, and remove 32 of the matting boards from location. The vault for the well has been ordered and is due to be ready for installation in early May.
861639743 | 2015-03-23 | I inspected this well location as part of on-going plugging which has been initiated under Orphan Well program contract. At the time of my inspection, the plugging contractor (Hagen Well Service) has established the work area which includes containment sheeting and diked berm around the work zone. The well casing has been exposed to an approximate depth of 6 feet below grade and a 60-diameter corrugated steel culvert has been placed around the exposed casing to create a cellar feature. A temporary field-constructed closure swage has been implemented at the open well casing to mitigate fugitive vapors. Work is on-going to site circulation tanks and other equipment prior to commencement of drill-out and plugging operations. |
