1426378194 | 2015-03-14 | Inspection on this day revealed that fresh water had filled up area between wooden conductor pipe and 7 surface casing and let oil escape onto the ground and it entered a small wet weather stream that feeds Rich Fork Creek and estimated release was 1-2 bbl of oil and the Monroe county EMA contacted local inspector Bill Stolarik and I received call from him at 12:00 pm asking if I would look into the matter and I arrived on site at 1:15 pm and located problem well and then contacted well owner requesting his presence at site to begin clean up efforts on spill, instructed owner to remove any contaminated soils and properly dispose of it at a EPA approved landfill.
Note: Equipment for clean up arrived on site and soils were placed onto plastic liner and covered for the night and then they started to work there way down stream to clean up small pockets of oil in creek. |

At 11:32 Am on 03/14/15 I was notified by Phil Keevert with the Monroe Co EMA that they had an oil spill of approximate 50 gallons that had entered the waters of the state and the EPA was also notified and enroot, I notified my Supervisor Brent Bear and contacted Inspector Dave Ball to respond. I also made contact with the Steve Sapio with the USDA who is the area inspector for the US Forest Service and reported the spill to Mr. Sapio on this day. I remained in contact with Inspector Ball and Supervisor Bear through the course of events of the day documenting the situation. 03/16/2015 The initial well identification reported by the County EMA Director was found to be incorrect- I have correctly identified the well as 3411165719. | ||||
