1173887070 2007-03-05 On site for NOV follow-up and to meet with David Barntz, Bob Harpster, & Ben Harpster of Clearwater Energy hired by well owner Joe (Mike) Murnane, Columbus Oilfield Explor. Co. to plug the well. Plugging permit issued 3/2/06 & expired 3/2/07. Received VM message from Dave Barntz on 3/4/07 that he planned to open the well on 3/5/07 and planned to begin plugging on 3/6/07. Notified Jeff Fry that well had expired. Called Dave in the morning of 3/5 and he indicated he overnighted a $ 300 check to Columbus on 3/1/07 for a rush permit. Jeff Fry called back & said no plugging permit in and Barntz must wait until permit is issued. He could open up the well. While in Shelby Co. for mining permit amend mtg & inspection, received call that rush permit was issued. Stopped by the site and pluggers were opening the well up. Said they had 200 lbs of pressue on gauge when hole opened. Also indicated there was a 1.5 inch production line in hole. Pluggers indicate they planned to start plugging on Tuesday, 3/6/07 and finish on Wednesday 3/7/07. Photos taken of the site.
1173894454 2007-03-06 On site for beginning of the well plugging. Joint inspection with Jeff Fry. Clearwater Energy is plugging the well. David Barntz, Bob Harpster, & Ben Harpster of the company hired by Joe (Mike) Murnane of Columbus Oilfield Explor. Co. to plug the well. Well permit indicated that there is 92 feet of 10 inch casing and 367 feet of 7 inch casing. Dave indicated they also pulled 1287 feet of the 1.5 inch production tubing. 6.5 cubic yards of 9 sack grout ordered, with calcium cloride and hot water from Ernst Concrete. Based on measurements, that should fill hole to about 400 below surface. 6.5 cubic yards put down the well. Based on calculations from Jeff Fry, only about 150 feet of the 7 casing could be recovered if it was ripped and removed. Jeff gave approval to leave the 7 inch. Well still gassing when 6.5 cubic yds pumped down the well. Well shut off and planned to be filled on 3/7/07. Photos taken of the work. Well is dry and no fluids returned when plugging started. Some of the production equipment and debris removed. Landowner Charley Coles was at the site during a portion of the plugging.
1173897061 2007-03-07 On site for final plugging & restoration. NOV issued in 2002: well incapable of production & not ID'ed. Clearwater Energy hired by well owner Joe (Mike) Murnane of Columbus Oilfield Explor. Co. Met with David Barntz, Bob & Ben Harpseter. Operator added 6.5 cu yds of 9 sack grout w/ calcium chloride on 3/6/07. Well with the 6.5 cubic yards already in was measured on 3/7/07 & was 1500 ft in depth . It shouldpe have been about 400 ft below the surface in the 7 casing. Dave & Bob thought the well was deepened in the past w/out the state being notified. Actual depth of well unknown. 5 cu yds of 9 sack grout w/ calcium chloride and hot water added. Hole dug out, casing cut, & cement allowed to gravity feed w/ some between 7 and 10 casing. When depth measured, cement was at 56 feet from the top. Ben Harpster calculated that well was drilled deeper with 4 casing. Add'l 2 cu yds of 9 sack grout ordered, hole filled, plate with well ID added. Hole around well filled with dirt and graded out, all remaining debris removed & final restortation complete. Charley Cole-landowner on site. Photos taken.
