1978596237 | 2014-05-01 | A prospective buyer of the property where this well had formerly been located called asking about potential issues with formerly plugged wells and implications for building on or near former wells. The well was reportedly plugged and later vaulted and vented. Currently a vent is visible but nothing else. I inspected the location and found a 4-inch diameter PVC field-constructed vent stack on the east side of the parcel which is currently undeveloped. I did not observe any other surface expression of the former well. I evaluated the vent stack for the presence of gas leakage using a Sperian detector. No detections of methane or explosive gas were observed. I contacted the prospective buyer and related my findings. I advised them to contact local building officials for guidance on local building and zoning requirements. |
