1416168092 | 2014-11-16 | I received a call from Hess Ohio, Mike Roberts to inform me of a chloride spill which has occurred on the Athens C Pad. Mike said that the left corner has 1 bbl. Of 1300 PPM chloride running into a small sump. I arrived to find that the H & P Drilling Rig # 284 is drilling at 10,670 ft. I met with Mike Roberts and Hess Safety people. They said that the leak has just began within the last 2 days. It is around a bbl. a day. They do regular walks around the location and discovered that fluid is running out of the corner sump. The sump is being pumped into a tank and is not leaving the pad. After looking at the pad I advised that a deeper sump be excavated and that they should begin to monitor the entire drilling system until a point of origin has been determined. I ask for the as built plans to discover where the French drains are located so that not only a point of origin is found but also discover how much of a spill has occurred.
1416403435 | 2014-11-18 | Today I am meeting with Jason Simmerman and Anthony Carson to review the site construction plans and the on going chloride leak. We did walk the site and check the plans but could not determine the source of the chlorides. The southeast corner was to have a sump excavated and a liner installed but that has not occurred. I spoke to the Company Man on site and he said he is still waiting on call before you dig response. The leak in the corner is flowing at the same rate as before even though the temp is down to 9 and most everything else is frozen. They did spot a tank which they are using to pump the fluid that makes it into the duck pond.
-1945631599 | 2015-01-09 | The sump remains in place but there is no fluid running into it or being pumped out today because it is frozen. The chlorides have continued to decline and the fact that everything is frozen means they are low.
-2004310876 | 2014-06-05 | The pressure test did not pass and they were going to run tubing in and cement but changed that after I arrived. Now they will move the HAD rig to the # 6 well permit # 1306. The cement job will be done by Patterson 284
2138130298 | 2014-11-17 | I am on site today to check on the brine leak in the southeast corner of the pad. The as built plans are being forwarded to me today. The leak has not increased or decreased in flow and is about 1 bbl. Or more each day. Samples were collected Sunday by Enviro Track and the results copied to ODNR. The sump has not been added as they are waiting on Before you dig response. The site is snow covered today and the temperature should drop to 9 or 10 and limit the fluids flowing on site.
-250070265 | 2014-09-15 | I am on site today to meet with Hess Ohio Drilling Superintendent Bob Mcspadden and John Mode because of the pressure on the annulus of the 9-5/8 inch diameter casing string. This well has 700 PSI on the annulus of the deep intermediate casing string. It has a depth of 7900 ft. I advised that a plan be submitted for approval on how to remediate the annulus pressure before the well can be placed into production.
-723968851 | 2014-06-04 | I am on site today to witness the running and cementing of the 18-5/8 inch diameter casing string. HAD Drilling Rig # 618 drilled a 22.5' inch diameter hole to 540 ft and set 502 ft of casing. Halliburton Energy cemented with 510 sacks of class A cement at 15.6 lbs and 1.2 yield. Had cement returns to surface.
945221902 | 2014-12-05 | I am on site today to check on the chloride drainage to the left corner of the well pad. The sump is in place and the readings are down after several days of rain. The operator has continued to pump the sump back into a tank and will continue to do so until the readings drop further. |
