The operator was circulating frac fluid into a temporary lined pit and then pumping it into a frac tank for re-use. Apparently, due to a pump failure of operator error, the pit overflowed allowing an unknown quantity of brine to flow out of the pit and travel approximately 50 feet to a storm drain. The operator removed the brine and excavated approximately 10" of soil from the spill area.. Sample results were received on 9/18/14 and showed chloride levels within background range (60mg/kg).
