1400502218 | 2014-05-16 | Field Inspected, Well Not Found | No Violations | My inspection this day found no well. I searched the road right of way in both directions of where the information in our database indicates the well should be and did not find anything indicating a well or well location. I called Dale Dietrich, trustee for Benton Township, and he was unaware of a well in the road ditch but said he would ask the other trustees and let me know if they knew of one. Available records indicate that a rig was on this well but they could not plug it. There is a new bridge/culvert at the entrance to Knowlton Lane, which is approximately where this well should be located. It is possible that when they installed the new bridge, the township removed the well. I will check for other maps or information on this well in order to better define its location. |
1401890088 | 2014-05-16 | Field Inspected, Well Not Found | No Violations | My inspection this day to locate this well and update the file on it. I looked for this well but could not find it. I looked up and down both sides of the road ditch for several hundred feet but found no sign of a well or even an old location. There is a new culvert/bridge at the intersection of Twp. Rd. 88 and Knowlton Ln. and this would have been the location of the well, altho we did not have an actual GPS reading on it, just the calculated coordinates that were scaled off the topographic map when the well was entered into the program. Records show that D-J Oil of Beverly, OH had the plugging permit issued to them but I talked to them and they do not recall having a rig on the well. Onc of the local producers thought that Timco cleaned-out the well and plugged it and will call them to see what they know about it. |
1402315437 | 2014-06-09 | Field Inspected, Well Not Found | No Violations | I received a call this day from Tim Brown, of Timco, who remembers being called out by D-J Oil to clean out this well with a power swivel unit. He says they got down to 120 and stopped, due to contracting issues. They ended up placing a 20 piece of culvert over the top of the hole and a flat steel plate with the permit no. on it, vented with a 10 long piece of tubing over to a big tree and vented further 5 into the air. The well was located in the middle of the road as soon as you crossed the old bridge, on the same side of the road as the old house and barn. The well was never plugged to his knowledge but also says it was not making oil or gas, just vented for safety. Since that time (2000), a new bridge has replaced the old bridge and no sign of the well can be found. Later in the afternoon, I returned from an inspection of the well site for this well. The well was not found. I found the large tree which has now been cut down and there was 2 steel lines coming out from under the new bridge but no 20 culvert acting as surface casing. I believe all this was removed when the county replaced the bridge. That would place the well at @ N39.59348, W-81.13848. |
