2517845 | Primary Facility | 2016-09-08 | Routine/Complete Inspection | No Violations Noted | Inspection of a suspected abandoned gas well in Wayne County conducted September 8, 2016. The well is next to remnants of an old house foundation, West of Penn-York road, just south of a small pull off on the river side of the road. The well’s exact location; N 41.98938, W -75.34255. The Well has 8 5/8” conductor/surface outside of 7” casing. Based on the two-string casing design and even more so the diameter of the casings, consistent with O&G wells drilled during that period, I believe the well’s initial purpose was a gas well. There is record of a Marcellus gas well drilled in 1956-1958 drilled by Penn-York drilling with a TD of 5903 (API Permit#127-90000) nearby. The well record has a location of “3500’ S 42 00’, 2000’ 75 20’”. The location seems to be rounded off, and a couple hundred feet at most from the abandoned well. The exact location on the Well Record is in a flood plain and no sign of a well nearby. Unless someone has found that well, I believe the well in the woods is this well, #127-90000. A |
