2840852 | Primary Facility | 2019-02-14 | Routine/Complete Inspection | No Violations Noted | A routine inspection of this abandoned legacy well was conducted February 14, 2019 as part of an abandoned well investigation. The well was located on the south side of the Cowanesque River approximately .3 miles southwest of Academy Corners. At the time of inspection, the well has an 8" casing only extending above ground level. The casing was full of fluid. No bubbling or sheen was observed. The outside of the casing was covered with snow and ice at ground level. No indication of leaking, discharge, or venting was observed.
This well was drilled in 1925 approximately to a TD of ~1100'. Record of a historical inspection conducted in 1945 revealed the well was flowing "saltwater and considerable gas" at that time. No obvious issues or irregularities were observed at or near the well at this time. |
