The complaint was assigned to our Oil and Gas Inspector. Upon his inspection he found a small spill and refered it to me.
It appeared that the operator was servicing the well causing a discharge of approximately 10 gallons of crude oil on to the ground. The spill apparently occurred on 11/25/16 however the operator had failed to report it. Upon inspection I saw an area approximately 20ft. x 10ft of oil soaked soil covered with absorbant peat. The estimated quantity was 10-15 gallons. I returned about an hour later and the operator had scraped up the peat and soil into several plastic bags for disposal and mulched the disturbed area. The violations were corrected. |
