Texaco Calmar No. 8-A was drilled in 1950 by Texaco Canada. The well was found to be unproductive and after operating until 1951, it was abandoned. The well was rediscovered and found to be leaking in 2008 during the search following discovery of the Texaco Calmar No. 5 well.[1] Texaco Calmar No. 8-A was eventually deemed RecExempt, possibly due to overlap with well Texaco Calmar No. 8, located immediately north in the same field.
