ID is posted at the tanks. 2-100 Bbl tanks in the tank battery. The operator states he wants to return the well to production but has some surface owner issues to work out first. The Smetzer lease is in disputed ownership because the current operators grandfather lost the lease to Mr. Smetzer and then Mr. Shorts was operating the wells. They were placed on his bond but he states Smetzer had title to them. There are 6 wells producing on the lease but there are 14 on the property. The remainder will likely need to be referred to the orphan program. Mr. Smetzer is dead and the property has been split up. Mr. Shorts had intention to plug the Smetzer wells that are not operating with proceeds from the estate of Mr. Smetzer but that deal did not come to fruition. Mr. Shorts indicated that the Division investigated the legal issues of the lease in the 1990s and said that the files should be located at Uniontown. He did not have any documentation regarding that and there is no information in the image files on the server. |
