1615338253 | 2018-10-18 | Production Wells | No Violations | I conducted an inspection regarding complaint #5990 regarding a tank overflow into the tank battery at this location. At the time of this inspection, the well was equipped with a pumping unit and not in production. There was an active domestic line plumbed off the 4.5 inch casing with a regulator and drip bottle. The tank battery was comprised of one 100 BBL tank, one 50 BBL tank and a mechanical separator. The 50 BBL tank was approximately 75% full of water with two to three inches of old oil on top of the water. The top of the tank was sagging and allowing the rainwater to enter through the top of the tank, filling it and overflowing. The side of the 50 BBL tank was stained with oil. The area around the base of the 50 BBL tank was stained with old oil and contained within the dike. The tank battery was diked. No legible identification was located at the well or tank battery. Lease access was stable. I spoke with Charles Moisio, well tender for Big Sky. Mr. Moisio stated that he would be on location on 10/19/18 to remove the existing fluid from the 50 BBL tank. I informed Mr. Moisio that the area of impact inside the battery from the previous release would have to be removed and disposed of properly. I also spoke with landowner William Ellsworth informing him of Big Skys intention to remove the fluid from the 50 BBL tank and remediation of the impacted soil inside the diked battery. |
