0087348159 2017-04-26 Orphan No Violations On location with Orphan Well Program Manager Gene Chini to familiarize him with this orphan well location. Upon inspection, it is observed that the well is still steadily leaking brine into Linscott Run and natural gas into the atmosphere. Options for accessing the well were looked at and discussed.
1087019421 2017-06-27 Orphan No Violations Orphan well status inspection: A weighted line attached to a fishing rod with depth counting reel was lowered into the wellbore to gauge its unobstructed depth. The weighted line traveled downhole to a depth of 82 feet. The well was continuously releasing brine and natural gas to the surface this day.
1474391753 2016-09-15 Orphan No Violations Orphan well status inspection: The original complaint concerning this well leaking brine and oil in the creek dates back to 6-27-1988 and was levied by former landowner Betty Calentine. The well was referred to the Orphan Well Program and issued case #1988-6-157. Upon inspection, it is observed that this well is still present in the stream bed of Linscott Run, is idle and orphan, and is currently leaking. The well consists of 8.5 diameter surface casing and 2.375 diameter production tubing. The well leaks gas to the atmosphere and leaks brine and a small amount of oil into the creek bed. The surface casing sticks up 30 above the creek bed and is heavily corroded and split down the middle, allowing fluids to leak out. The production tubing is loose in the well and is heavily corroded. RBDMS records indicate that the well was abandoned on 5/5/1951, however no plugging records are available. Upon speaking with Mr. Richard Calentine about the property and the well, he states that he recently sold the land to a local farmer named Joe Lucas. Contact will be made with Mr. Lucas to discuss the status of the well in the Orphan Well Program.
1485875241 2017-01-25 Orphan No Violations Orphan well status inspection: The purpose of this status inspection is to observe this orphan well during higher flow conditions in the channel of Linscott Run. Upon inspection, it is observed that the well is located directly in the stream channel and is still actively releasing brine and trace amounts of oil into the water. The well is also releasing natural gas to the atmosphere. The current Site Evaluation Matrix score for the well is 244. New photos were taken of the location. The landowner, Mr. Joe Lucas, stated in a recent phone conversation that he is willing to fill-out, sign, and return a Landowner Right of Entry Release form.
