0056079105 | 2017-06-09 | Production Wells | No Violations | On the day of my inspection I found that the well was equipped with an electric powered pumping unit. The motor, belts and electric were intact. The flow lines were connected at the wellhead and the valves were open. There was some blotchy oil staining in the soil around the wellhead, but there were no apparent leaks or fresh oil on the ground. The production equipment consisted of one 100 barrel steel tank and one vertical separator in a shallow graveled depression. The tank was only 18 feet from the wellhead. There was some older oil staining in the gravel, and there was no identification posted for the well. No production has been reported for this well since 1995. I met with the home owner, Chad Gress, who claimed that they were getting house gas from the well. Chad said that he purchased the property at auction in 2005 and found the well to be in a state of neglect. Chad works with his father Jeff Gress as local producers under Gress Oil and Gas. He made contact with the well owner in 2005 and agreed that they would pump the well for share of the profit. He claimed that they serviced the well and brought it back to a state of production, but it only makes enough for domestic gas. He alleged that they never heard anything back from Energy Development Corp. and they have not been in contact since 2005. Chad said that they would like to have the lease cancelled and get ownership of the well under exempt domestic status. |

1471933398 | 2017-06-27 | Production Wells | No Violations | I got a call from Bill Evans with Energy Development Corp. to ask if I could meet him at the well site to look at the wells and discuss their plans. Bill admitted that they havent been to the Barrick wells in many years. He claimed that they were ran off by the landowners at least 10 years ago and couldnt produce the wells. Bill had copies of my most recent reports stating that the wells were being used for domestic gas by the Gress house and the Demoss house. He also had a copy of an affidavit of noncompliance that had been filed against the wells by Lisa Gress in 2004, but he claimed that no other actions were ever taken to obtain the wells after filing. Bill said that the oil and gas lease on the property belonged to Beck Energy, but the wells were his. He said that he wanted to get out of the business and get all wells off his bond. I told him that he has two options; he can either transfer the wells or he can plug them. He said that he wants to attempt to contact Gress to take the wells for domestic gas. I gave him the contact information for Gress Oil and Gas. I also gave him contact information for five local plugging contractors that I routinely work with in Coshocton County. |
