1195889196 2019-04-08 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection I found accompanied DOGRM surveyor Tom Smith back to the well site to record the well location. Buckeye already had the well capped and buried and the site was rough graded. The tubing string was still there and there was one dozer and one mini hoe. The pit was closed and all other materials had been removed.
1554210094 2019-04-02 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection I met Gene Matheny at the well site. Buckeye Oil also had a crew working at the site. Gene said that he originally went in to pull the tubing and rods for a pump change. He said that the first 28 to 30 joints of tubing pulled very hard. They thought it was a salt ring until they got the tubing out and found that it was covered in grey shale, indicating a hole or part in the production casing. Buckeye decided to pug the well while they already had a rig on it. Gene said that they tried to run back in with tubing but they sat down at 2218 feet. Buckeye Oil contacted DOGRM geologist and district supervisor Mike Moreland to request permission to set a plug at that depth, and to apply for an expedited plugging permit. Buckeye was instructed to make a good faith effort to clear the obstruction and get closer to bottom for the first plug. Gene had the tubing equipped with a tri-cone bit and ran back in to the place where they were setting down. Petroset is scheduled to be there tomorrow morning with a power swivel and pump truck. Buckeyes crew was removing the rods and debris, bringing water in and constructing a pit for circulation. The plan is to establish circulation and attempt to drill through the obstruction. If they get through the shale Buckeye wants to set their bottom plug tomorrow. I called Patty Nicklaus with DOGRM permitting and she said she had the check and permit application, and it would be officially issued tomorrow. I also called Mike Moreland to give him notification that Buckeye and Petroset would be making their attempt to get to bottom tomorrow.
1554298092 2019-04-03 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection I found that Buckeye Oil had the pit dug and lined. They had a water truck and 300 barrel tank on location. Gene Matheny had the tubing and bit in the hole to a depth of 2218 feet. Petroset brought in a pump truck and a power swivel contactor. It took Petroset 185 barrels of fresh water to establish circulation. Once they got the fluid moving, they slowed their rate to 3 barrels per minute and started turning the bit with the swivel. They got one joint in over the course of an hour. They started another joint and the tubing started torqueing up when Gene would let off the brake. They made several attempts to go deeper, but the swivel contractor advised that he was concerned they were turning the bit on steel. DOGRM District Supervisor Mike Moreland and I agreed that Buckeye Oil made a good faith effort to get to bottom. We gave them permission to stop there, at 2231 feet and call for the cement truck. Petroset brought their bulk truck in and re-established circulation. They pumped a 300 foot class A cement plug from 2230 to 1930 feet. Circulation was maintained throughout the job. Once Petroset was finished Gene Matheny pulled the tubing from the well.
1554391201 2019-04-04 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection I found that Gene Matheny had all of the tubing out of the hole. He was taking the wellhead apart, and rigging up to tag the plug and rip the 4.5 inch diameter casing. The casing parted downhole as soon as Gene pulled up to set it in the slips. He said that the weight indicated that it parted very close to where we set the first plug. Gene pulled the production casing and tallied it at 2192 feet. The last joint was corroded., pitted and ripped in half. Most of the string was rusted. Gene called Petroset, and then ran tubing back in to a depth of 900 feet for the Berea plug. Petroset established circulation and pumped the plug. Matheny pulled the tubing up to 580 feet, and Petroset pumped a 200 foot plug at the base of the surface casing. Matheny pulled up to 200 feet and Petroset pumped until cement was circulated to the surface. The cement was falling slowly when they stopped pumping. They topped it off and started racking up. I checked the cement level before I left and it was down to 6 feet. I told Gene to leave it open overnight and I would check the level in the morning.
1554470385 2019-04-05 Plug / Plug Back No Violations On the day of my inspection I found that Gene Matheny was moving the rest of his equipment out. The top plug had fallen approximately 20 feet over night. Gail Wolboldt with Buckeye Oil showed up to close the pit and cap the well. He had a half pallet of sack cement to top it off before they cut the casing and put the steel plate on. Gail said that he would have the pit completely closed today.
