| 1767671771 | 2018-06-20 | Production Wells | No Violations | I received a request from the DOGRM Central Office to confirm the status of this well. On the day of my inspection I found that there was no visible wellhead near the location point on my Topo 9 map. I put the stored GPS coordinates into my handheld unit and walked out to where the well location was plotting in an open, agricultural field. I found no signs of an oil or gas well site. There were no oilfield related materials or debris, and I found no signs of a leaking plugged well. I called Denny Dugan of Valley Petroleum. Denny claimed that the well was plugged back in the 1990s, and he described the location to have been very close to where my GPS was taking me. Denny claimed that the well was plugged under the Division of Mines and suggested that there were many lost records through the time when plugging responsibilities were transferring to the Division of Oil and Gas. I recommended that he search his old records for any documentation of the well being plugged. He said that he would be in his office today and he would get back to me. |
