0755575310 | 2018-07-10 | Final Restoration | No Violations | On the day of my inspection I met with Chad Gress of Gress Oil & Gas to confirm the location and identity of all their producing wells on the Lacy lease. Gress has been reporting production for their Lacy 6, permit 5820 under this well. I searched for the location of this well to confirm that it has been plugged. I found open 8.625 inch diameter casing approximately 18 inches above grade in the corner of an agricultural field. There was also one 1.5 inch diameter plastic line coming out of the ground next to the open casing. The line was new and the clamp on the line was new, but it was open and not connected to anything above ground. The well casing was full of water down to approximately 20 feet. There were no signs of oil on the water, and I did not detect the odor of natural gas coming from the open casing. I researched the records and found that the well was plugged with clay to 100 feet and stone to 80 feet. Then the mine inspector granted LBJ permission to leave the well open and not plug to surface under the premise that it was going to be used for a water well. There were no signs of leaking and there was no oil or brine on the ground around the open casing. |
