0697734434 2017-11-30 Orphan No Violations I inspected this well location as part of an evaluation of current status. At the time of this inspection, there was a semi-circular area of dead grass, approximately 20-inches in diameter, between the house and the driveway. The was no notable smell of gas near the spot. I had previously advised the landowner that they would have to expose the source of the gas and confirm the existence of a well at the location.
1493183998 2016-12-27 Orphan No Violations I inspected this suspected well location as a follow-up to an earlier inspection. At the time of the previous inspection, the landowner reported a perpetual area of dead grass in the yard, and a verbal indication of other people familiar with the property history that an old gas well was located there. I had assessed the area and noted elevated gas reading I had advised the landowner to consider hiring a contractor to expose the area and confirm the existence of a well. Subsequent to that inspection, I had received no further communication from the home owner. At the time of this inspection, I observed the following: an approximate 3-foot diameter, semi-circular area of dead grass 20 feet from the west side of the house. Further investigation revealed elevated gas readings (ranging from 5 to 50% LEL) in shallow punch-bar holes advanced within the dead area, which declined to undetectable levels beyond the area. There were no meter-detectable readings in ambient air in the vicinity of the dead spot.
