1366642349 | 2012-12-20 | Orphan | No Violations | The Division of Oil & Gas Resources Management received a landowner complaint alleging that an old well existed on the property with unknown ownership. An inspection revealed that the well was idle. The well consisted of above ground road culvert style pipe approx 10 diameter that served as drive pipe, 6.5 casing and 4.5 casing. Cement was observed at the surface between both the 6.5 casing annulus (backside) and 4.5 casing annulus. Note: The annulus between these casings also contained a fitting that extended above the cement. A nipple was threaded into the top of 4.5 casing which allowed for a swage type reduction and installation of a 1/2 valve. The valve was closed at time of the inspection and the well showed no signs of fluid and/or gas leakage. The well was situated on property designated as agricultural field. The entrance into the property off SR 705 contained gravel to a location approx 100 from the well. The well location did not contain overhead lines and/or obstructions. In regards to oilfield debris, two jack lines from a grasshopper style unit were placed next to the well. There were no steel lines or tanks observed on the property. At time of the inspection, this well was not listed in RBDMS. Therefore, the well location was researched and verified with Central Office. As a result, a permit number was subsequently assigned to this well after the inspection. |
