Operator has spread peat on the floor of the tank battery. There is a drain pipe in the dike of the battery, oil escaped the battery through the drain pipe. Brine and oil flowed 60 feet south of the well. Dug three 6 inch deep test holes in the gravel on the floor of the tank battery. Brine and oil seeped into holes. Tested fluid by the separator Cl- 1069ppm. Tank battery will need to be stripped of equipment, all contaminated soils removed. Contaminated soils out side of the dike will need to be removed and disposed of at an approved location. Fence around tank needs repaired. Identification sign needs correct information. Called Carl Shafer in regards to the leak. Carl put me in contact with Allen Lorenchek. Spoke with Bill Kenny, clean up crew will be on site Saturday morning. Company did not contact DMRM regarding release. |
