0161438213 2016-02-16 Production Wells No Violations Division database records show that the Mary Wetheral #2 is located approximately 950 south of County Road 50 and 1350 west of State Route 68, on agricultural property owned by Kurt Farms LLC. According to the historic well records, Bert L. Sheldon drilled this well in 1949 to a total depth of 1397, with oil & gas from 1341 to 1352. This area is a small strip of ground that is not being farmed and my inspection did not find a visible well or any visible oil or brine impact at the surface in this area. However, the landowner believes that this well is actually buried here but the ground is currently frozen and did not allow for the excavation of this area to locate the well.
1509988617 2016-03-19 Production Wells No Violations Excavation was conducted this day in the area the landowner believes the well is located. A well was uncovered and was visibly equipped with 5 5/8 diameter surface casing. The top of this casing was damaged and there was a thick, oily sludge inside of the casing. There was cement around the outside of the 5 5/8 casing but the 8 diameter conductor casing was not visible . The wellhead was broken off and discovered three feet west of the well. The landowner installed a 14 diameter plastic riser pipe over the well and bentonite was used to seal the space between the well and the riser pipe. Additional research will be conducted on this well for possible referral to the Orphan Well Program.
