| 1196717929 | 2007-09-07 | Orphan | No Violations | A complaint was referred to the Division of Mineral Resources Management by the Hocking County Health Department on 9/7/2007. The complainant was contacted by telephone on 9/7/2007. The complainant states that an old well located at 23129 Goose Creek Road, S. Bloomingville OH, 43152 (Benton Twnshp, Section 29), is leaking fluid onto the ground. An inspection conducted on 9/7/2007 confirmed that fluid is leaking from a well onto the ground surface. The source of the leak appears to be from a hole near the top of the above ground 7 inch casing. A close observation revealed that an epoxy material had been placed around the hole, in an attempt to prevent further fluid release. The fluid discharged from this well was clear and remains constant. At the time of the inspection, Quantab reading showed chloride concentration to be under 3 ppm. 4.5 inch casing was also observed inside the 7 inch casing. Dead organic material and crude oil was found bubbling inside the 4.5 inch casing near the top. Measurements were also obtained to show setback distances from the oil and gas well to water wells, road, and residential dwellings. The distance from the oil and gas well to Goose Creek Road was 34 feet. Two water wells were found to be 85.5 feet and 230 feet from the oil and gas well. Two residential dwellings were found to be 86 feet and 130 feet from the oil and gas well. A pop up trailer was observed to be 39 feet away from the well. This well was not found in RBDMS. |
