1488663185 | 2017-04-05 | Drill / Deepen / Reopen | No Violations | On the day of my inspection I found that the cement head had been removed and the casing had been set in the slips. The cement top was not visible from the surface. I fastened lead weights to the end of my 100 foot reel tape measure and slowly ran it down the annulus to determine how far the cement had fallen. The cement head and landing joint were leaking and releasing pressure after the cement job. I found the top of the cement to be at a depth of 38 feet. I called Dean Moran to let him know what I had found and to request that he top the annulus off with sack cement. |
1491317475 | 2017-04-04 | Casing String Witnessed | No Violations | On the day of my inspection I joined Knox County inspector Mark McCombs to witness the cementing of the surface casing. Dean Moran reported that he had 18 feet of 11.75 inch drive pipe in the ground. He drilled an 11.25 inch hole to a depth of 430 feet and ran 426 feet of used 8.625 inch casing equipped with 2 centralizers. Mark said the he had confirmed that the casing had been pressure tested and drifted. I took a sample of the mix water from a 100 barrel steel tank on location. The pH was 7.0 and the temperature was 47 degrees. I tested the water for chlorides with a Quantab test strip. The chloride level was at 2521 parts per million (ppm). I questioned Dean Moran about the source of the water. He claimed that they just had 80 barrels of fresh water hauled in yesterday from a local pond. Dean speculated that there may have been a little residual salt water in the truck that was used to haul. I requested that he drain some of the water from the tank into the pit in the case that there was a little brine residue in the truck, as the heavier salt water would sink to the bottom of the tank. Dean ran a few barrels in to the pit and I tested again. The Quantab showed 1951 ppm. I told Dean that he could not use that water to mix with, but they could use it for cement displacement. Evan Moran left to get another load of fresh water. I tested the new water straight off of the truck. It had a pH of 6.0 and a temperature of 41 degrees. The chloride content was too low to register on the high range Quantab, so it was below 282 ppm. I told them that it was acceptable to mix cement with. Cemenco pumped 14 bags of gel and 5 bags of cotton seed hulls ahead, followed by 150 sacks of class A cement. The well circulated while they were mixing cement. There were approximately 7 barrels of cement circulated to surface. The threads of the landing joint and cement head were leaking once Cemenco landed the plug. Dean said that he would schedule to have the pressure test done on a later |
