1323875430 | 2011-12-05 | Orphan | No Violations | On site with DNR Inspector Ray Wallace to complete a follow-up inspection from Fridays complaint by the City of Oberlin Fire Chief (Dennies Kirin). This complaint was of a gas odor in the back parking area of 355 East Lorain. I notified a Columbia Gas site technician that his supervisor needs to pressure check their 10 line that runs east to west along back of the property. |
1325030250 | 2011-12-02 | Orphan | No Violations | Inspector Ray Wallace received call from Gene Chini in regards to complaint of strong gas odor coming from vicinity of an old gas well located behind a business located at 355 East Lorain Street, Oberlin Avenue. Ray Wallace and Tom Benko responded to location. Wallace contacted Oberlin Fire Chief Dennis Kerin and informed him we were enroute. Upon arrival met with Fire Chief and Columbia Gas representative, both requested where the gas well was located. They thought it was in an area where a prior excavation was evident, and a steel and cemented cap was evident in the pavement. This area was approximately 25-30 feet west of side street and approximately 6 foot south of the building wall. The Gas company was getting high readings along the north east corner through holes punched through the pavement cracks, those reading levels were not disclosed to the inspectors. Columbia Gas had taken readings with probe inserted into holes punched in pavement. Inspector Wallace got 0 LEL at waist level around building or back property line at waist level. Dominion took samples for testing, and informed me that they would be monitoring the well all week end. Inspectors Wallace and Benko left scene approximately 3:00 PM. Conducted follow up inspections with Norburt Lowder 12/05/2011, 12/09/2011, and 12/21/2011. Received separate report from Oberlin Fire on 12/27/2011 and will forward under separate e-mail. |
