Well has open 5.5OD,4.75ID steel casing. Casing is exposed 4. Crude oil is visible at the top of the casing and leaked onto the ground surface. There is a 10 by 15 oil soaked kill area around the well casing. Casing has an old water well pump that had been on the top of the casing with 1 black plastic PVC attached to the pump and extending into the well casing to an unknown depth. (I was told by Bob Monchein that a previous landowner had hand pumped the crude oil and used it to coat or paint his barn?) Bob Monchein is Lori Swains dad and sold this acreage to her. Well is surrounded by brush and small trees. This is located in a horse pasture field. Well is Historical and unknown in depth. (probably a Berea well). 16 photos taken. I met with landowner Lori Swain at her request to review the wellsite and impact of leaking crude oil. This abandoned well has open 4.75 inside diameter steel casing. This casing extends 4 inches above the ground surface and has crude oil in the inside of the casing to the casing top. This well is burping a gas bubble every 30 seconds to a minute and a half. This burping is new and was not observed on the inspection of 09-16-15. The oil saturated surface area has grown to a 20 by 15 area. Lori Swain is concerned for the safety of her horses who pasture in this field. She has lost one horse of great monetary value for unknown reasons. Her property has been proposed as part of a right of way for a new high volume gas transmission line by Nexus. (against her will). The right of way described by Lori should not affect this well site or entry into it. I took 7 additional photos and a movie of the well burp. |
