1239025198 | 2009-04-06 | Orphan | No Violations | Received a call from Elyria Safety Director Jim Hutcheson to investigate a gas leak in the parking lot of Invacare Corporation at 1200 Taylor St. in City of Elyria. Met with David Flynn, facilities Manager for Invacare Corp. I advised the gas is possibly coming from an abandoned well under the pavement in the parking lot after Columbia Gas determined it is not their gas. No wells in immediate area plotted on Topo map. Mr. Flynn has hired a contractor to dig up parking lot and expose well head. I will assist in uncovering well head. Diggers Excavating dug in parking lot 6 down and found 12 borehole with no casing. Thread protectors were found inside bore hole. Cleaned out hole and inserted 10 PVC. Extended it 8 above ground level and installed a 90 degree ell on top. Gas is at 50% lel out of vent. Well is deeper than Ohio shale due to size of borehole. Gave David Flynn application to complete. Snow and rain 35 degrees. |
