Bleachtech staff was in the process of removing burnt out grass and contaminated soil from the Robot Co. (next building south of Bleachtech on Ryan Rd.). While removing contaminated soil, it was noted that the cylinder on the earthmover had blown and was leaking oil. Decision made to stop working with equipment until repair has been made in order to not further contaminate soil.

0794567658 2015-08-05 Solution Mining Project No Violations Visited location on 08/05/2015 to respond to a brine-release incident at Bleachtech. Reggie Brown (OH EPA) and Dan Shroyer (Fish and Wildlife Officer) also responded. Up to 20,000 gal of low saturation brine and mud was released from the return line to the well overnight due to a line part. The brine traveled south from Bleachtech to the neighboring property, then west to Ryan Rd., then south through the ditch along Ryan Rd., before crossing under Ryan Rd. and the railroad tracks through a culvert and into the pond at the Creco Corp. Vacuum trucks were on-site, and containment had been placed throughout the ditches. A bladder was installed on the east side of the road. The plan is to plug off drainage at the catch basin on the west side of the railroad tracks; they also plan to move the bladder to the west side of the road to block off the flow to the pond, and also to flush and suck out the ditches. Samples collected from several spots along Ryan Rd. as well as the pond maxed out both the low and high range Quantab tests. Will continue to assist OH EPA with clean-up efforts.

The 8 hour test began at 0800 and ended at 1600 with readings taken hourly. The initial pressure difference was 39.539 psi and the last pressure difference was 40.191 resulting in a failed test with a Net Pressure Change (NPC) of -0.08. The well will be retested after 2/29/2018.
