1034637715 2019-05-20 Drill / Deepen / Reopen No Violations On this day, I found the Patterson Rig 563 drilling the 12.25 inch diameter deep intermediate borehole at measured depth of 8,150 feet with an azimuth of 48.5 degrees and an inclination of 13.3 degrees. I spoke with CNX Company Man Chris Chamblee during the inspection. They are projecting to drill the section to a total measured depth of approximately 9,700 feet. The 13.375 inch diameter casing was set at a measured depth of 2,387 feet from a Kelly Busing of 29 feet.
1345294059 2019-05-06 Drill / Deepen / Reopen No Violations I am onsite to witness the 18.625-inch diameter surface mine-string casing cement job with Halliburton Energy Services. The Patterson 563 rig drilled a 24-inch diameter borehole to a depth of 750 feet from a Kelly Bushing of 29 feet. Costys Energy Services attempted to insert 695 feet of 18.625-inch diameter J-55 87.50 lb./ft. casing into the wellbore. They were unable to land the last 5 feet, so they laid down a joint, and picked up a smaller pup joint to satisfy the depth with the coal seam. The coal seam was encountered from 645 - 655. They were unsuccessful landing again, and continued to attempt to wash down the casing. I spoke with Company Man Rick Harless and Brett Smelser, and it was decided to lay the casing down, and run in with the bit to clean the hole.
1557467413 2019-05-09 Casing String Witnessed No Violations I am onsite to witness the 18.625-inch diameter surface mine-string casing cement job with Halliburton Energy Services. The Patterson 563 rig drilled a 24-inch diameter borehole to a depth of 750 feet from a Kelly Bushing of 29 feet. Costys Energy Services inserted 688 feet of 18.625-inch diameter K-55 87.50 lb./ft. casing into the wellbore. The coal seam was encountered from 645 - 655. The packer is set from 462 - 471. Halliburton Energy Services initially pumped 25 barrels of gel spacer. They cemented the first stage of the casing with 62 barrels total volume (275 sacks) of Class A cement with a 1.273 yield, and a weight of 15.8 pounds per gallon, verified by scale. It was displaced with 212 barrels of water. The plug bumped and pressure held for 5 minutes. Then, pressure was increased to approximately 1,975 pounds per square inch (psi) to allegedly inflate the packer, and the opening tool was dropped down the wellbore with Blackhawk Specialty Tools. The second stage of the casing was cemented with 114 barrels total volume ( 505 sacks) of Class A cement with a 1.272 yield, and a weight of 15.8 pounds per gallon. It was displaced with 142 barrels of water. The plug bumped and pressure held. I spoke with Company Man Brett Smelser, and he stated that there was no circulation throughout the second stage. No cement returns were witnessed at surface. A top job will be conducted. I informed Company Man Chad Shoffner that a Cement Bond Log will be requested, and to include the entire mine-string and shoe, after the top job is complete.
2117885569 2019-04-25 Casing String Witnessed No Violations Onsite inspection to witness the conductor casing cement job with Express Energy Services. The conductor rig drilled a 32-inch diameter borehole to a depth of 100 feet from ground level. Then, 100 feet of 26-inch diameter weld connection casing was inserted into the borehole. They cemented the casing with 50 barrels total volume of 238 sacks of Class A cement with a weight of 15.6 pounds per gallon, 1.18 yield, 2 percent calcium chloride, 0.5 pound of flake per sack pumped through a 1 inch diameter steel line down the backside. It will be noted that cement returns were not witnessed at surface. Cement can be seen approximately 30-35 feet downhole. I spoke with CNX Company Representative Heath McDaniel on location. It is projected to be grouted back to surface.
