| 1221614392 | 2018-05-07 | Production Wells | No Violations | Today I met with landowners Alan and Petra Gibbs. They have lived on the property since 1984 and never seen or noticed this hole before. They had stone delivered to the house a couple months ago and the next day they found a hole at the side of there driveway about 20 feet away from one of their garages. There is 10 inch casing showing about 2 feet down inside of the hole. The hole at the surface is 2.5 feet long by 2.5 feet wide. I used my tally tape to see how far the plug was down inside of the well because there is no metal plate covering it. I was able to tag the plug at 8 inches. There is water at the surface but there are no bubbles or any sign of gas/oil. The water in the hole appears to be ground water only. Outside of the casing the hole opens up to 3 feet long by 3.5 feet deep. I used a metal pool and touched dirt or rock all the way around the well. The landowners put a small wagon over the hole so it would be covered when I left. Petra stated that there are young children on the property so they are worried about the safety. There is no production equipment for this well. The well was plugged in 1963 according to records. There is an old concrete base on the property about 300 feet away that couldve been oil field related. |
| 1529080889 | 2018-05-18 | Orphan | No Violations | Orphan well inspection: Upon inspection, it is observed that a subsidence approximately 2.5 in diameter has formed on the annulus of the 10.75 outside diameter casing of this plugged well. The well is not leaking oil, gas, or brine and there is clay plugging material present approximately 8 down inside the casing which appears to be competent. The top of the casing is approximately 24 below ground level. The subsidence is located directly beside the landowners driveway and is a safety concern. An emergency services contract will be prepared and sent to qualified contractors to have the subsidence mitigated. Photos were taken of the subsidence and surrounding area. |
