1483024697 | 2016-04-05 | Final Restoration | No Violations | I conducted an inspection at this location to determine the status of this well that is listed as producing, but the former owner/operator, Tatco Petroleum, Inc., is no longer a registered owner in the State of Ohio. R.J.S. Properties was the original owner/operator, spudded the well on 8/5/1978, and cemented 4.5 production casing on 8/14/1978. All indications are that the well was drilled and abandoned some time between August of 1978 and May of 1979. A revised location plat for the K.S.S. Associates #s 2, 3, & 4 (PN#s 1347 & 1345, & 1346), received by the Division of Oil & Gas on May 9, 1979, indicates that this well (#4) was plugged and abandoned. An unsigned and undated completion report is on file that indicates the Clinton Sandstone was tight and the well card indicates that this was submitted on 10/4/1995. The report also indicates that the well was never perforated or stimulated and the date plugged if dry (line 24) indicates 1979 with a question (?) mark. I reviewed Portage County aerial photos from 1980 and the photo clearly indicates a disturbed area where the well drilling/plugging activity would have taken place in the field. This agrees very closely with were the well plots on the Emergency Well Locator. I inspected the area today and covered approximately a 100 yard radius around the probable location of the well in the field and in the tree line. I did not find any evidence of a wellhead or surface equipment. What was likely the lease road is used as access to the field and nothing that I found requires grading or seeding. Based on the compiled evidence, this well was likely plugged and abandoned in 1978 or 1979. Final Restoration is approved. |
