0817022218 | 2017-03-23 | Production Wells | No Violations | Columbia Gas Transmission, Muskingum Watershed and contractor representatives met at the well location to discuss work to access, reopen and replug the well. The well is leaking gas from the storage field. Columbia Gas installed a vent riser over the well for safety after receiving a gas leak complaint last year. Columbia Gas obtained a plug permit for the well to reopen and replug the well. They have received approval from the US Army Corps of Engineers to build location. Surface work limits have been staked and flagged. They are going to begin clearing trees at the location prior to an April 1 deadline. Plugging will likely start in June due to flooding potential of the location in April and May. |
0853897078 | 2017-05-22 | Plug / Plug Back | No Violations | Columbia Gas is rigging up the service rig on the well to reopen and replug the well due to leakage. |
0862839726 | 2017-06-02 | Plug / Plug Back | No Violations | 7 inch casing top was encountered at 1634 feet. Wait on rig to run 6.25 inch bit to the 7 inch casing and attempt to drill ahead. The bit entered the casing with no resistance. An obstruction was encountered below the anticipated 7 inch seat. Wood chips came up in the fluid returns. The rig was able to continue drilling to 1830 feet. Rock fragments were observed in the returns. Drilling stopped and the hole was circulated to clean it out at 1830. Drilling will resume Monday. |
1020797954 | 2016-05-02 | Plug / Plug Back | No Violations | The vent stack is stable on the well. No leakage was observed at ground level. Columbia Gas stated they are going to get a permit to reopen and plug the well this summer. |
1410734142 | 2017-06-27 | Plug / Plug Back | No Violations | Whan Incorporated is on site restoring the well location and access road. The rig location has been topsoiled and finish graded. The area has been disced from the well up to the stream crossing. The temporary bridge has been removed from the crossing. Whan is removing timber mats from the access road. |
1427169652 | 2017-05-25 | Plug / Plug Back | No Violations | 8.625 inch surface casing was installed and cemented in the well. No leakage was observed outside the casing. No one is working on the rig today. Mac Oil delivered a fluid tank to the location. |

1778121340 | 2016-03-02 | Plug / Plug Back | No Violations | A gas leak was reported to Columbia Gas. They determined they have no pipeline in the area. Terry VanSickle and Brent Criser of Columbia requested an inspection to determine if there is a historic well at the location. We examined the leak. The well location is within the tailwater of the Pleasant Hill Lake and dam. The area is wet woods and the well is below grade with water laying on the ground. No oil or brine was evident. Gas is bubbling through the water. Columbia installed orange safety fence at the location. The Division had no record of the well; permitting staff assigned the API number. A metal detector and probe revealed the presence of casing at the leak location. Historic well maps indicate a Clinton well at the location. There is no further information on the well in Division or Columbia Gas records. Columbia is planning to expose the top of the well and install a vent stack on it. Muskingum Watershed is the surface owner and they are preparing an agreement for Columbia to access the well. Columbia obtained a gas sample to determine if it is from the storage field. If so they want to plug the well; if not it will need orphan referral. |
