The well had no rods or tubing in it when work began. The surface casing had failed allowing fresh water into the wellbore. The formation at 745 is a mix of shales that is known to swell with the introduction of fresh water, isolating the Trenton formation at 1150 from the bottom of the Big Lime at the bottom of the Surface casing. There was less than a barrel of oil in the well that was removed with a bailer. Work was stopped for fear of losing tools in the swelled shale. |
