1429217214 2015-04-06 Production Wells No Violations This well is located two feet west of the southern leg of the gravel trail in the Clinton Nature Preserve. The well is approximately 200 north of the north end of the Schekelhoff Nature Preserve paved trail, or the southern entrance to the Clinton Nature Preserve. The western bank of the Sandusky River is only 150 to the east but the river encroaches to within 75 of the well during wet periods. The Sandusky River flows from the south to the north. The well has 8 and 6 casings sitting 18 above grade with a small amount of fresh water leaking from the top. The casing has been partially crushed and there is no wellhead on the well. According to members of the Clinton Township Park Board, a wooden post of unknown length was shoved down the well to an unknown depth over fifty years ago. This was likely done in an effort to stop the flow of water and prevent any other debris from being placed in the well. Access to the well will be from the north, on the gravel trail through the Preserve. This path may need to be made wider to access the well with plugging equipment. There is brush and small trees that will need removed to access and plug the well.
