0457626115 2018-02-01 Orphan No Violations I received a request for an inspection of an idle well from DeHoff Development Co. In the process of clearing trees and brush prior to development, the Keplar # 1 well was discovered. The well was located in the NW 1/4 of Section 23 in Green Twp., Summit Cty., in an agricultural setting under going residential development. There was not an access road to the wellhead and a small stream crossing was encountered. J. C. Steiner drilled the well to its total depth of 4373 in August of 1943. Utilizing the cable tool method of drilling the well was cased with 10 drive pipe to 75, 6 casing to 785 ( pulled ), 5 casing to 4110 ( 4076 pulled ) and 2 upset tubing to 4371. The 10 drive pipe was visible at the surface rising approximately two (2) feet above the surrounding grade. Inside the drive pipe the two (2) inch tubing was visible. No other casings were identified. The 2 tubing was connected to a vertical 8 X 2 nipple, then to a 2 Orbit valve with another 8 x 2 nipple connected to a 2- 4 way fitting. On the top of the cross fitting a pressure gauge ( recent vintage ) registered 130 psi. One side of the 4-way fitting was plugged with a bull plug and the other side led to a 2 flow line, which was severed. The flow line had a stainless steel tag marked E. O. G. # 2041. There was a swabbing staff and line attached to the wellhead. Approximately 35 south of the well was a regulation manifold consisting of a Chaplin Fulton D-17 beam regulator. The well was located approximately 125 west of the Right of Way for Interstate 77. The area surrounding the wellhead was absent of ground contamination from the well and I did not find any gas leaking on the wellhead. This well will be submitted to the Orphan Well program for evaluation.
