1725683995 Production Wells No Violations Inspection conducted in response to request of Vinton Cty. EMA and SO. At approx. 4pm this date an 8 riser valve was struck by a truck owned by a nearby resident. The accident resulted in damage to both valve heads on each side of the main valve. The whole apparatus was pushed over to a 45 degree angle and the truck was lifted approximately 2 off the ground. A very large amount of gas escaped causing the Richland VFD to evacuate 4 residences. Columbia workers on site reported the line was running 750 PSI when it was struck. The wellhead and riser are located in an open area and well marked. A pipeline marker is located approx. 6 from the point of impact. Blowdown to enable safe repair required approximately two hours. Vinton Cty Sheriff indicated charges will be presented vs. the driver of the truck, possibly felony charges. All on site were amazed the accident did not result in a fire. Columbia personnel will dig up a section of the damaged pipeline to inspect for additional damage before this line is reactivated.
